‘It Hurts So Bad’: Gillian Breaks Down Over Discovering Edgar’s Lies On 'Temptation Island'
Gillian Lieberman discovered her boyfriend, Edgar De Santiago, has been lying to her since the show ended on the latest "Temptation Island After Show."
Edgar De Santiago and Gillian Lieberman’s time on “Temptation Island” finally caught up with them on the final “After Show” of the season when they both broke down crying about his overnight date with Marissa Rodriguez.
The men and women of Season 4 got together once more to watch the latest episode in groups, and it proved to be a particularly revealing time for the college sweethearts, who have been struggling to keep their relationship afloat while separated on the island. Last week, viewers saw Gillian react to Edgar having sex with Marissa. This week, however, she realizes the extent to which he moved on from her on the island when she learns, for the first time, that Edgar and Marissa had “a lot of sex” during their overnight date.
While watching, Marissa says she and Edgar explored every room of their one-on-one villa, which makes him squirm in his chair and makes her break into tears.
“It hurts so bad. He literally was acting the same exact way with her,” she says as the other three women surround her to comfort her.
“I just want him to know that, for me, it’s not so easy to throw away the love that we have,” Gillian continues. “I guess it still means a lot to me. Our relationship still means so much to me. How can you just replace me like that? Because I can’t just replace him like that.”
Back with the guys, Edgar confesses that watching the moment gives him a stomachache today. He also admits he was wrong to not consider how Gillian would feel when he was getting so close to someone else. He blames her hot and heavy relationship with Tommy Soltis for making him think there was no going back for either of them.
“I reached a point where I was like, ‘Gillian has found someone and there’s no reason not to explore,” he explains.
That’s when Gillian reveals to the girls that Edgar had lied to her about his overnight with Marissa — twice.
“He lied to me you know?” she explains. “First he told me they never had sex on the overnight date and then he told me that they did have sex and now I’m finding out that they had a lot of sex, you know? And it’s just so painful.”
As for her connection to Tommy, she notes that a lot of it went out the window once the extent of her boyfriend's transgressions became clear to her at the bonfire.
"I would say for me, it being our overnight date right after I had just seen Edgar at the bonfire like that, kind of like changed what it meant for me because I was really disgusted by seeing Edgar be so intimate with someone he doesn’t really know that well," she says later in the episode. "I was definitely not in the mood to do anything even close to that. We did have a good time but just not like that. Not the way Edgar and Marissa had a good time. I was not looking for that ever."
Edgar concludes the segment by noting he feels “regret” and is “confused” by the whole experience.
However, did his revelation come too late? Can he and Gillian get past their respective transgressions? Fans will have to tune in to the final episodes of “Temptation Island” Season 4 to find out.
