Mark, who was born in South Carolina, isn’t just a TV personality. He’s a keynote speaker, corporate host, and author, according to his website. After getting his start in the TV world as an assistant at Dick Clark Productions, he became an announcer for a game show called Shop ‘Til You Drop. More TV work followed: He hosted the nationally syndicated series The Mark Walberg Show, The Moment Of Truth, and Joe Millionaire. He also acted as the host of the traveling series The Price Is Right Live! and Let’s Make A Deal Live! He even won The Weakest Link as a celebrity contestant!

Most famously, in 2006, he became the host of the wildly popular series Antiques Roadshow until 2019. The series features antique owners across the country getting items appraised by collectors, learning if they secretly have treasure on their hands.

“I love all of it — scripted, nonscripted, reality, crazy, whatever. I enjoy the process and I enjoy the people involved. And everybody has their way of doing it, and everybody has their reason for being on it. And at the end of the day, all I hope for is that the viewer has been entertained, and the people who are on the show got whatever it was they wanted out of the process. Because what I really wanted out of the process was a job,” Mark told Vulture in 2014 of his passion for his career.

Clearly, Mark has the TV hosting chops — but he also knows quite a bit about personal achievement, having seen his entertainment career dreams realized. He regularly speaks across the country and shares his lessons for success in his keynote presentation, Appraise Yourself: How Life On The Road Taught What Is Valuable, according to his website. As you can tell by the name, many of those lessons were drawn from his years on Antiques Roadshow, where Mark saw over and over that even the most unassuming items may carry high value — and learned exactly what in life holds high value for him.

Mark knows what it takes to have a successful relationship: He’s been happily married to actress Robbi Morgan Walberg for over 30 years. Together, they’ve raised two children.

“The only way I know how to host anything is to bring my authentic self. When I’m sitting across this bonfire with these young people grappling with all these questions and problems, I can’t help but coach them through things based on what I know from my own life. I tell them the advice I give is exactly what they paid for it. I’m a game show host. I’m not a therapist. But I am a husband, a father, a son and all these things. The only thing I can bring to this is I’ve failed more than they’ve tried, so maybe I can help,” he told TVInsider in 2021 of his role in the show.

Temptation Island Season 5 premieres Wednesday, June 14 at 9 ET/PT on USA Network. Catch up now on Peacock.
