Sami Zayn Pens Tribute To Jamie Noble After Emotional WWE Live Event In Charleston
The Honorary Uce went out of his way to give respect to one of the unsung heroes of WWE.
It’s an open secret that many surprises that happen in WWE aren’t necessarily reserved for televised shows like RAW or SmackDown. Sometimes, moments both big and small happen when WWE rolls into towns worldwide for non-televised events. And to say the crowd in Charleston, West Virginia, got its money’s worth over the weekend would be an understatement.
In the night’s main event, Jamie Noble — former WWE Cruiserweight Champion — came out of retirement to wrestle one final match. It was the first time he competed inside the squared circle in over 7 years. The cherry on top? It was in front of his hometown crowd, complete with friends and family at ringside.
The final match of Jamie Noble’s storied career featured him teaming with Braun Strowman, Ridge Holland, and Butch in a battle against the Bloodline. And in what was a perfect cap to an amazing career, Noble finished with his hand raised in a well-deserved victory. Fittingly, the hometown Charleston crowd gave Noble a standing ovation — you always want to send the fans home happy, and that’s exactly what Noble did.
Noble’s WWE career ran the gamut from Superstar to backstage producer to in-ring coach and everything in between. Above all else, his talent in the ring was second-to-none, as evidenced by unforgettable matches against Superstars such as future WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio, among others. He was a wrestler’s wrestler, to say the least.
Despite being the man that Noble pinned for the victory, Sami Zayn couldn’t help but offer up a heartfelt tribute via Twitter to his opponent after the show ended.
“An emotional night,” his caption read. “I’m humbled & honored to have had the privilege of sharing the ring with Jamie Noble tonight in his final match. Very few actually know how much Jamie has contributed to this industry. One of the great minds for the business & an unsung hero at @WWE. Grateful.’”
It’s not often that a Superstar has the opportunity to compete in a fellow wrestler’s final match, and it’s clear Sami Zayn is cognizant of having that distinction. We here at USA Insider want to send our gratitude to Jamie Noble for a great career — one that was punctuated this weekend in Charleston with a win over WWE’s most imposing faction.
As far as Sami Zayn is concerned, the Honorary Uce is gaining more and more momentum as this generation’s “unsung hero” of WWE, so it’s only fitting that he always saw the same in Jamie Noble. As the Bloodline storyline keeps running along through the end of the year, 2023 will bring even more exposure for Sami Zayn. Will he continue to capture the hearts and minds of the WWE Universe? Will he prove once and for all that he’s actually the glue that holds the Bloodline together? Will he and the Usos come up with more and more increasingly awesome handshakes? Truth be told, we fully expect the answer to all these questions to be a resounding YES.
