WWE's New Day React to Getting Pranked by Cody Rhodes on Scare Tactics: "Pretty Freaked"
The Undisputed WWE Champion got the last laugh on his friends in Scare Tactics' "Hospital Hell!"
Superstars Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E, who together form the iconic WWE alliance known as New Day, found themselves on the wrong side of history in the second episode of Scare Tactics. During the episode, they were scared out of their wrestling boots thanks to a prank set up by their on-screen ally, Cody Rhodes!
The memorable prank involved New Day and Rhodes judging auditions for a (fake) reality show called Thrill Ride. Things seemed on the up-and-up until one reality TV hopeful's audition took a bizarre, supernatural turn, eventually ending in chaos — and a lot of explosions. That obviously didn't sit well with New Day, who seemed bewildered at best and downright scared to death at worst as the nightmare scene played out before their eyes!

USA Insider recently sat down with Kingston and Woods and asked the two WWE Superstars about their Scare Tactics appearance — and in true New Day form, they were incredibly candid about being pranked on national TV!
We had to ask: Who was the most scared?
"To be honest, I have no idea because I was really freaked out and I wasn't looking to take a freak-out check," Kingston confessed. "I wasn't looking around thinking, 'Oh, is he freaking out?' No, I was just trying to get out of there. It might have been me, I don't know. I was pretty… I was pretty freaked."
"I feel like all three of us were on the same page about getting out of there," Woods added. "Because when you're experiencing something like that, you realize like, 'Oh these are superpowers that I don't have, for one, and I don't understand, for two, so I need to go. I think all of us were in that same phase of, 'Yeah, this is not for us right now.'"
Kingston went through every emotion possible as the woman slowly descended into madness.
"The whole scenario was like this emotional rollercoaster," Kingston explained. "It's just like, it gets steeper and steeper and steeper and steeper because we're trying to help somebody out. We're doing the right thing and then she starts kind of flipping out a little bit. And then Cody starts saying these dastardly things and I'm like, 'Whoa, like you of all people, why are you saying these things? Like, what's going on?' And then the explosions are going off, so I probably lost a good four or five years off my life with all the emotions we had to go through in that situation."
Longtime WWE fans likely picked up on Cody Rhodes' uncharacteristic behavior in the lead-up to the prank; he played his part to perfection, calling the hopeful contestant a "freak." New Day was clearly shocked to see the normally squeaky-clean, fan-favorite champion talk trash like that, and it helped to compound the chaos even further.
Will New Day seek payback on Cody Rhodes for his Scare Tactics prank?
Now that Rhodes has been revealed as the mastermind behind this scare, it's only logical that New Day would be after revenge, right? Should the Undisputed WWE Champion be concerned about some measure of payback?
Well, according to Woods, Rhodes has absolutely nothing to be worried about.
"If I were him, I just wouldn't be worried," he told us. "It's not something that I would be thinking about. It wouldn't be at the forefront of my mind. Yeah, I would probably just ignore all signs of anything that even feels like something that could be payback. So Cody should just rest easy. You're good, dude. Nothing to worry about."

When asked who in the WWE locker room New Day would love to see scared on Scare Tactics if they were invited back to be on the opposite side of things, they (rightfully) kept their cards close to their chest!
"Definitely not Cody, definitely not. We would never," Kingston reiterated. "But there are several, several [other WWE Superstars] and I know you want us to give you the scoop, but I'm not gonna do that. We're not gonna give you the scoop just yet."
The New Day's words serve as a warning to the entire WWE locker room: be on the lookout because Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are looking for revenge — except, of course, if your name is Cody Rhodes.
New episodes of Scare Tactics premiere every Friday night at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network.
