Kurt Angle Says Spraying Milk On Opponents Was His 'Favorite Moment In WWE'
Kurt Angle took to his YouTube show to discuss how the milk truck segment was pitched and approved by WWE!
Last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown ended with The Alpha Academy doused in milk as Kurt Angle celebrated his 54th birthday in front of the WWE Universe in Pittsburgh. Joined by fellow Olympic gold medalist and WWE signee Gable Steveson, Angle blasted Otis and Chad Gable with milk to close out the show in a scene reminiscent of Angle’s 2001 antics. On the latest episode of the gold medalist’s YouTube show, “The Kurt Angle Show,” he took fans behind the scenes and revealed what WWE said when he pitched the idea, how the segment came to fruition backstage, and reflected on the moment.
As we love to do here at USA Insider, peeling back the curtain for a chance to see what WWE is like behind the scenes is a rare and special opportunity that allows us to see all the work that goes into each moment of the show. According to Angle, he was the one to call up WWE and ask them if a SmackDown birthday celebration was a possibility.
“Well, I approached WWE and I said, ‘Listen, your Olympic Hero is gonna have a birthday on December 9. WWE is gonna be in Pittsburgh, it’s a perfect time to celebrate my birthday. So they were like, ‘Yeah, yeah, we’ll think about it. They came back to me and they said, ‘Okay, we’re gonna do something,’” Angle explained.
Angle described the planning of the segment and how he was ecstatic to learn he would be driving the milk truck once again as it was one of his favorite moments of his iconic career.
“They wanted me to do the milk truck segment again. They decided to have a bunch of heels talk about me during the show, all through the show, putting me down, and ripping on me. Then, in the end, they were coming out to the ring because I was supposed to have my celebration. I don’t show up, and the heels are in the ring with all the birthday cake and everything, and I come in with the milk truck and I go down and I spray them down. I tell them, ‘Hey, you can’t have cake without milk.’ It was awesome," he said.
He continued: “When I was told this, I was so excited. Because that was my favorite moment in WWE. Driving that milk truck into the arena in Sacramento, California. It was my number one moment, I absolutely love that I had such a great time doing it. And it was an awesome moment for me to be able to do it again.”
At the end of the night, Steveson and Angle stood tall in the middle of the ring, pouring milk over their faces and soaking in the ovation from the WWE Universe.
