Cody Rhodes Reveals What's Inspiring Him To Keep Going During 'Awful' Rehab
Cody Rhodes shared a brief injury update with fans via Twitter where he talked about the challenges of PT.
WWE has been relatively quiet about Cody Rhodes's condition and the progress he’s made during his recovery. However, The American Nightmare himself provided fans with an update via Twitter this week in which he highlighted the struggles and hardships that come with physical therapy, but how he is finding inspiration through his family.
Five months ago, during the lead up to his Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins, Rhodes reportedly tore his pectoral muscle clean off the bone while training. The devastating injury would have sidelined any normal human, but in one of the gutsiest and toughest performances in WWE history, Rhodes somehow managed to defeat Rollins inside the cell with essentially one arm. Despite the victory, WWE announced that Rhodes would need immediate surgery and was expected to miss nine months of action.
Since that June injury, Rhodes and WWE have been relatively quiet, but the former Intercontinental Champion’s latest tweet provided the WWE Universe with at least a small update. According to the tweet, physical therapy has been “fn’ awful,” however, they are making good progress. Anybody who has gone to physical therapy in the past knows it is not an easy or comfortable task, but a necessary evil if Rhodes wants to come back stronger than ever.

According to the tweet, the physical therapist digs deep into the injured pectoral muscle, sometimes even causing Rhodes to scream. But through the pain, Rhodes can see his daughter and wife, Brandi, waiting on the other side inspiring him not to quit. “I have the best reason not to tap out," Rhodes wrote alongside pictures of his family.
The nine-month timetable leaves Rhodes to return around March — just before WrestleMania. Knowing Cody though, he is trying to prove doctors wrong and return earlier than that. If Rhodes can beat the nine-month estimate, a Royal Rumble surprise return is also an epic possibility. When and where Rhodes will return is only speculation for now, but the WWE universe can’t wait to see the comeback of The American Nightmare.
You can relive Cody’s epic trilogy against Seth Rollins, including his iconic WrestleMania return, on the WWE Network on Peacock.
