WWE Has Released Superstar Mandy Rose From Her Contract

Earlier this week, Mandy Rose was in the midst of a historic 413-day NXT Women's Title reign before Roxanne Perez cashed in her No. 1 contender's spot and pulled off an upset victory to dethrone the leader of Toxic Attraction. Just one day later, reports that WWE had released Mandy Rose began to circulate. 

The shocking news came at a time when rumors of Mandy Rose coming to the main roster were running rampant on social media, but it's now confirmed that Rose has been let go from the company. 

The former model and bodybuilder signed a contract with WWE in 2015 after placing second in Season 6 of "Tough Enough." From there, she made sporadic NXT appearances before debuting on the main roster with Sonya Deville in 2017. Rose also participated in a romantic comedy storyline with Otis in 2019 before being called back down to NXT. 

Rose became a mainstay in NXT, forming an alliance called Toxic Attraction with Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. Dolin and Jayne captured the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships two times while Rose went on to have the third-longest Women's Title reign in NXT history. Only Shayna Baszler and Asuka have held the title for longer. 

Rose issued a statement on Wednesday night, thanking her fans for their support: "Hey guys, thank you for all the messages. I am overwhelmed with all the love and support from you guys ..."

The former Champion spoke with USA Insider in August and emphasized how proud she was of what she'd accomplished.

"Fans and critics out there … you know, they’re always going to think how they’re going to think. That’s fine, but at the end of the day you can’t deny the work I’ve put in and ignore my credibility at this point. Anyone can say whatever they want to say but at the end of the day, I can back it up in the ring. That’s been the biggest thing thus far in this NXT run for me, personally," she said at the time.

She continued: "Staying positive — that’s a really big thing for me. Some people can be negative and get down and think the worst, but I’ve always been a positive person and I’ve always known my potential and what I’m capable of. So at the end of the day, I make sure it’s going to be great for me because I make it great for me."

Rose's match with Perez was originally scheduled for the NXT New Year's Evil special on Jan. 10, but was rescheduled to accommodate the new plan. There has been no word on who Perez might face with Rose now gone.
