Becky Lynch Calls 2022 Her Favorite Year Ever – Here's Why Her 2023 Could Be Even Better

Becky Lynch has gone on the record praising 2022 as an amazing year for her — and who are we to argue?

The multi-time WWE Women’s Champion took to Twitter over the weekend to express her gratitude to her millions of fans while waxing poetic about her historic year:

Becky’s caption revealed that “2022 marked 20 years” since she broke into the wrestling business, while calling it “my favorite year of my career.” Considering the legendary career Becky has had, we initially were shocked that she would call this past year her favorite – but after we thought about it, we found ourselves agreeing with the Man’s assessment.

She started off 2022 with a bang, successfully defending her RAW Women’s title against all comers, most notably against Doudrop at the Royal Rumble and against WWE Hall of Famer Lita at Elimination Chamber. After losing the championship to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania, she worked her butt off to climb back up the women’s division rankings before ultimately falling once again to Bianca at SummerSlam — and that’s where Becky suffered a separated shoulder that took her out of action for an extended time.

Maybe the injury itself was what made Becky Lynch love 2022 so much; maybe the time spent grinding away at rehab lit a fire inside of her that she had never had before. Maybe the extra time at home with family brought her some much-needed time with her child. Maybe the combination of both those factors made her appreciate her career all the more. Let’s not forget that she made her return to WWE just a short time ago at Hell in a Cell, delivering a top-of-the-cage leg drop that the WWE Universe, quite frankly, didn’t think Becky was capable of doing. Whatever happened to Becky Lynch in 2022, she’s undoubtedly more fearless, and that spells trouble for the rest of the women’s division.

Here’s the thing, though. 

This new year is full of potential for Becky, and it’s entirely possible that this new year surpasses last year when everything is all said and done. Think about it: It can all start at the Royal Rumble on Jan. 28 — she can outlast 29 other Superstars and call her shot at WrestleMania, taking aim at either Bianca Belair or Charlotte Flair for their respective WWE Women’s Championship.

Even though Becky and Bianca seem to be on the same page lately, we’re willing to bet that there’s been no love lost between the two competitors. Bianca’s current title reign is bordering on historic, and Becky should have her sights set on recapturing the championship that she lost to Bianca back at SummerSlam.

Of course, there is a much more storied history between Becky and Charlotte, who currently holds the SmackDown Women’s title. Charlotte has seemingly had a stranglehold on every championship on every brand she appears on — whether it’s RAW, SmackDown, or NXT — and has been regarded as the de facto high bar for all WWE women to measure up to.

Whatever path Becky Lynch takes, she can’t keep her eye off the ball because her path to WrestleMania immortality starts at the Royal Rumble in San Antonio. That’s her best — and arguably easiest — path forward to regaining championship gold, so there’s no reason why she won’t enter the Alamodome laser-focused on her task at hand. 

So sure, maybe 2022 was Becky Lynch’s favorite year ever. 

But let’s ask her again in 12 months.
