Sami Zayn Reflects On Being Accepted Into The Bloodline And Working With The Usos

Sami Zayn has arguably been one of the best professional wrestlers in the world for over a decade now, but he is just now finally getting the recognition and appreciation he deserves. The now-permanent Uce is possibly the most popular member on WWE’s roster right now with fans erupting the second Zayn emerges from backstage or picks up a microphone. His in-ring skills are second to none, but it’s his work on the mic and storytelling ability that have captured the imagination and appreciation of the WWE Universe.

The former NXT Champion joined Peter Rosenberg’s “Cheap Heat” podcast where he talked about the storytelling in his current angle with The Bloodline, disclosed what it’s like to team with The Usos, and talked about how their story mimics real life.

The chemistry between specifically Jey Uso and Sami Zayn has been off the charts. They’ve created wrestling’s hottest story, engaged audiences all around the world, and even managed to slip some comedic relief into their segments. Zayn talked about how his on-screen relationship with the Usos closely mimics real life, but that they are all close backstage.

"Not to say Jey is the angry one or anything, that's a story we've told for six months. But Jimmy really is a laid-back dude. The relationship that we [have] onscreen is very, very similar to the relationship we have backstage. I just saw a video from 2019 or 2020 of us doing the handshake, and that's our real-life handshake. They are the coolest, most universally adored people and everyone has a rapport with them," Zayn explained.

At Survivor Series, The Bloodline defeated a team of five other Superstars in a brutal War Games match that saw Jey Uso finally accept Zayn as one of their own. For the last few months, Jey has had an exceptionally difficult time accepting Zayn into The Bloodline, but seems to have done so after Zayn’s heroic and selfless actions throughout the past few weeks.

Zayn reflected on the very moment he and Jey finally embraced inside the cage saying, “I’m a bit of a perfectionist so I watch it back and I’m like man I just wish they had the better shot of that ... The guy hugged me and the place blew up, and it was 6-7 months in the making, that moment.”

Sami Zayn and the rest of The Bloodline have had targets on their backs for months, but to Zayn, this is still one of his favorite storylines of his career. “This story’s been one of the most creatively satisfying stories I’ve ever done, the only thing that comes close is probably stuff with Kevin. It’s very unique,” Zayn explained.

The Bloodline are looking to keep their footing atop the WWE mountain ahead of the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View in January where The Tribal Chief’s WrestleMania opponent will be revealed.
