Shut it down, there’s no way anyone else can top Enofé’s dedication to his WWE goals. And he says he's not done yet!

It’s not every day a WWE Superstar makes headlines for getting a tattoo. Getting fresh ink is not a reason to go viral.

How to Watch

Watch Monday Night RAW every Monday evening at 8/7c on USA Network. Stream more exciting WWE series on Peacock.

But try telling that to NXT Superstar Edris Enofé.

After bursting onto the NXT scene in 2021, the United States Navy veteran has stolen the spotlight whenever the opportunity arises. Whether it’s a strong showing in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic or a show-stealing match with Kushida earlier this year, Edris Enofé has put the NXT locker room on notice ever since he rolled into Orlando.

(That diving shooting star press is a thing of beauty, isn’t it?)

Yesterday, Enofé took to social media to announce his latest tattoo — and well, pictures speak a thousand words, so let’s get right to it:

Yes, the WWE logo is now permanently transfixed to his chest.

Enofé’s caption read, “NEW CHEST TAT‼️ One thing about me is, I’m dedicated to this brand.” And predictably, this post blew up all over social media and the internet, with countless professional websites reporting on this seemingly bizarre yet badass choice. Even his fellow Superstars couldn’t help but chime in, commenting on his Instagram post with varying degrees of disbelief.

Understandably, the WWE Universe — and USA Insider — had many questions about Enofé’s decision to permanently brand himself with one of the most famous logos in all of sports and entertainment. So we went to the source. We asked Edris Enofé directly, and he was more than happy to give us the inside scoop on exactly what was going through his mind when he got the tattoo!

“Honestly, it was spur of the moment,” he told USA Insider. “I will eventually be the face of this brand and I felt this was the best way to represent it. WWE has changed my life, and this is my way of saying thank you — by becoming an ambassador for the rest of my life.”

Interestingly enough, a few hours after his initial post, he followed up with what seemed to be a post of regret, writing on Twitter, “ngl, i kinda regret it now.” We had to ask, was that post in jest, or does he now legitimately regret getting the tattoo?

“When I said I regretted it, I regretted not getting it sooner. I also plan on getting an NXT tattoo on my neck for my birthday,” he told us.

Enofé is clearly all-in and focused on his WWE career, and we have to be honest, you gotta respect the hustle and dedication. An NXT tattoo on his neck? Wow. (Maybe Cody Rhodes could reach out and hook him up with his neck guy, right?)

“WWE has been my dream since I was 4 years old,” he said. “When I finally had enough money, I went to my first WWE event, Backlash 2016. And I was in the nosebleeds of the nosebleeds. I remember telling myself, ‘Somehow, someway, I’ll be in that ring.’”

Who is anyone to judge somebody else for chasing their dreams? Tattoo or no tattoo, Edris Enofé is arguably one of the most physically impressive and capable athletes currently on the NXT roster, right up there with the likes of Carmelo Hayes and Wes Lee. Still, his career is still young, and it could get in any direction; after all, turning heads in NXT does not mean you’ll ever make it to RAW or SmackDown. We wondered if Enofé ever considered a scenario in which he is released from his contract without ever making it to the main roster.

Not surprisingly, Enofé isn’t even considering that possibility. He’s laser-focused on making his dreams a reality.

“I haven’t thought about if it doesn’t work out with WWE,” he said. “Much like the same way I didn’t think about ‘if pro wrestling doesn’t work out.’ I never had a Plan B in my life — except from Walgreens. I had a vision and I knew if I worked hard, stayed focused, and treated everyone right, I would eventually get to where I want to be.”

Here’s to Edris Enofé manifesting his dreams in 2023 — and here’s to more iconic tattoos along the way.
