See All the Best Movie References From Suits In One Place

The Godfather, Silence of the Lambs, Dirty Dancing, and plenty more get shout-outs on the hit legal drama, Suits helped make it the fun series we know and love.

It’s the big question when you sit down on the couch: Should you watch a TV show or a movie? With Suits, you can have your cake and eat it, too. The USA legal drama, which exploded in popularity on streaming last summer, is packed with references to classic Hollywood films — mostly (but not entirely) thanks to Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), who is a huge movie buff.

To celebrate Suits' love of cinema, we're highlighting a mashup of some of the best (and most overt) movie references across all nine seasons of Suits (streaming exclusively on Peacock). How many movie references can there possibly be on this show? Well, the video is almost 15 minutes long, and it’s hardly exhaustive.

Some of the movies that get extended shout-outs in the show include Top Gun, The Godfather, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty Woman, all of Harvey's favorites. There’s a very thorough reenactment of Clarice and Hannibal Lecter’s first meeting from The Silence of the Lambs, and a Dirty Dancing reference courtesy of Meghan Markle, to tease just a few. Watch the entire compilation above.

Perhaps in retrospect, it’s telling that a show that’s so obsessed with Hollywood would eventually make its way to Tinseltown. Following the renewed interest in the New York-set legal procedural, which aired its final episode in 2019, NBC announced a pilot order for a spin-off series that takes the action to the West Coast titled Suits: L.A.

Suits: L.A. will follow Arrow star Stephen Amell’s main character, Ted Black. A press release about the series describes him as “a former federal prosecutor from New York, [who] has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.

Hmm, powerful clients in Los Angeles? Odds are pretty good that there might be a movie star or two in need of some legal aid. Hopefully, there will be movie references galore, too.

Suits: L.A. does not yet have a premiere date, but you can watch all of the original Suits on Peacock. (There are also a ton of great movies on Peacock, too. Harvey would love it.)
