Nikki Garcia Reveals Who Would Play Her, Sister Brie in Biopic: "That Would be Good"
The wrestling hall of famers Nikki and Brie Garcia discuss adapting their best-selling memoir to the screen.
The Garcia twins have an idea about who could play them in a TV series or movie about their lives — and it’s not who you’d expect. While discussing their tell-all memoir in an interview this week, Nikki shared a fun revelation. The Barmageddon host believes that Selena Gomez is the best choice for a big-screen adaptation of her and her sister's life story.
The sisters want to adapt their no-holds-barred book
Their fascinating memoir, Incomparable, weaves together their individual stories about childhood trauma, love, and loss. It quickly gained New York Times bestseller status when it was published in 2020 and was a top pick in the popular online group Bad Bitch Book Club.

We all know and love Nikki’s “bad” self as the smack-talking host of Barmaggedon, and learning about her and Brie's harrowing childhood makes these ladies all the more intriguing. Nikki, who also co-hosts dating show Twin Love with Brie, opened up about wanting to immortalize their life journeys on screen.
“After we published our memoir, I thought I would love to make this into a TV series or a movie, and also add in so much more of our life, so much more of what we couldn’t fit into one memoir,” she explained in a video interview with the Daily Mail. “Technically, Brie and I could have probably wrote three books in a row,” she added.
The Garcia twins tried to connect with Reese Witherspoon's book club
When Incomparable came out, Brie angled for a spot on Reese Witherspoon’s high-profile book club list, but she said the actress's media company, Hello Sunshine, never responded to her messages.
“I wrote to them twice. I’m like, ‘Hello Sunshine, anyone home?' I feel like our stories… wrestling is a big part of it, but there’s so much more of our childhood, what we fought there… There’s just so much more to our story that I feel would really empower not only women, men as well,” Brie revealed in the interview.
Pivoting to the big screen
The powerhouse twins ultimately want to cast a wider net than just the written word. After Brie suggested sharing their story as a “series,” the discussion turned to who should play them. Without missing a beat, Nikki said she had already picked her person: singer and actress Selena Gomez. The sisters agreed that Gomez had the chops to play both sisters, just like in the classic 1998 movie The Parent Trap, in which Lindsay Lohan famously played two twin girls.
In the interview, Nikki tossed out the name of another contender, who also seems perfect for the part: 21-year-old Scream Queen Jenny Ortega, the star of Wednesday and Scream 6 (2022). Brie agreed, saying, “Actually her and Selena, that would be good!”
We are so here for it.
According to the book’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, the twins have been competitively fierce since day one: “Legend has it that Nikki drop-kicked Brie in the womb so that she could make her grand entrance first. But the rest of the world often treated them as identical and even interchangeable, so they decided to do something about it.”
It sounds like the makings of a binge-worthy series to us!
