'He's Going To Be Beat': The Miz Talks Feud With Logan Paul, Advice He Got From The Rock
WWE Superstar The Miz appeaerd on "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen," where he discussed his plans for Logan Paul and the advice he once got from The Rock.
Between Season 3 of “Miz & Mrs” and a feud with new WWE recruit Logan Paul, Mike “The Miz” Mizanin has a lot going on right now. That’s why it was the perfect time for him to appear on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” to talk about it all.
The Miz joined “Southern Charm” star Austen Kroll for a round of lightning-fast questions from both the host and fans, who wanted to know about his roots on “The Real World” and what he thinks will happen when he goes head-to-head with Paul at SummerSlam.
Cohen got things started by asking if The Miz would ever consider appearing again on MTV’s “The Challenge,” which features current and former stars of the network’s reality lineup in intense competitions against each other. Unfortunately for those hoping to see Mizanin take on some of his old rivals, he admitted there’s no room for him there.
“I get that question all the time. If they need a host I will for sure host it no problem,” he said. “But I think T.J. [Lavin] is doing a great job and that show is doing phenomenal on its own. It doesn’t need me. It’s got its stars.”
He went on to discuss how he got his start as a TV personality. For those unfamiliar, viewers were first introduced to Mizanin as a troublemaking cast member on “The Real World: Back to New York” in 2001.
“I was sitting in my fraternity and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I can be on my favorite show? I can audition for it?’ And back then we had VHS tapes, I had to record myself,” he said. “We didn't have camera phones back then.”
He admitted he can’t watch himself on the show anymore due to all the embarrassing things he did on camera — specifically, talking to himself while drunk. However, it wasn’t all bad. As dedicated fans know, “The Real World” is where Mike Mizanin first crafted his WWE persona, The Miz, after his roommates bought him an action figure of The Rock.
So, has he had the chance to talk to The Rock about his unique origin story?
“I actually did. I had a moment with The Rock at the main event of WrestleMania going against John Cena where The Rock actually helped me defeat John Cena,” he said.
The Miz revealed that, despite the action figure being essential to his WWE career in many ways, it was the movie star’s unsolicited advice that truly sticks with him.
"There was a promo that I cut,” he said. “I was getting lost in the world of The Rock and John Cena because it was The Rock and John Cena and I was an up and comer but I was a champion. So, I cut this promo on The Rock and the day after I got a voicemail from The Rock being like, ‘That’s it, that’s how you step up!’ It was motivation.”
He also noted that, when he was filming his first movie, he texted The Rock for advice and was struck by how the incredibly busy movie star took time out of his day to give him some tips.
“Within five seconds, the guy called me,” The Miz told Cohen. ”He just gave me advice for an hour and I was like, ‘This is the biggest movie star in the world calling me,' … It’s incredible. He’s a tremendous person and he deserves all the success that he has.”
As for Logan Paul, The Miz still had some nice things to say when asked by a fan if there’s anything he respects about his upcoming opponent.
“Logan Paul fans, are we?” The Miz joked. “You know, honestly, he is a natural talent. I said this when I was training him at WrestleMania, I’ve never seen someone pick up my sport faster, whether it’s a celebrity or WWE Superstar. He’s that talented. He’s focused. Laser-focused on everything he does. That’s why everything he touches is really a success.”
Still being The Miz, he added: “He’s going to be beat at SummerSlam by me with a skull-crushing finale, boom.”
“Miz & Mrs” airs Mondays at 11 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network.
