WWE Announces Host City For Royal Rumble 2024, Promises Weekend of Events
WWE announced where the massive Royal Rumble 2024 battles will be taking place.
One of WWE’s most high-profile and explosive events, Royal Rumble, is officially headed to Tampa Bay, Florida, in 2024.
On Wednesday, WWE announced on its website that the city will play home to not just Royal Rumble 2024, but a weekend of events across St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa that all culminate in the notorious 30-man and 30-woman matches designed to pit some of the best Superstars in the world against one another in a massive battle for a guaranteed Championship match at WrestleMania 40.

The event will take place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, home of the Tampa Bay Rays. WWE announced that the venue was chosen in conjunction with the MLB team as well as Visit St. Pete/Clearwater and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. So, it seems WWE fans will get the full backing of the city for the event, which is set to kick off on Saturday, January 27.
According to the announcement, the event will mark the first time Tampa has played home to Royal Rumble since 1995 when Shawn Michaels took the big win and celebrated with then-Baywatch star Pamela Anderson. However, just two years ago, WrestleMania 37 took place in Tampa. So, WWE Premium Live Event fans are no strangers to the city.
“Team Tampa Bay loved hosting WrestleMania 37 two years ago and we’re now beyond excited to have the opportunity to collaborate again with our longtime friends at WWE,” said Rob Higgins, Tampa Bay Sports Commission Executive Director (per WWE). “Royal Rumble Weekend in January of 2024 will be a phenomenal regional effort that spans Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties including both Tropicana Field and Amalie Arena. Together, we’re focused on making sure that WWE Universe is treated to a weekend that’s filled with memories that last a lifetime.”
In addition to Royal Rumble, the action will continue on Monday Night RAW in Tampa at the Amalie Arena, so any bad blood between Superstars on the RAW brand will only fester for two days before they can do something about it that Monday. As for who will be competing, fans will just have to wait and see what shakes out in the WWE Universe between now and January.
