Royal Rumble 2024: Here Are the Matches To Look Forward To
Want to know who is competing in the 2024 Royal Rumble? Look no further.
There's nothing more exciting for the WWE Universe than the Royal Rumble.
From the annual event's trademark 30-person over-the-top rope free-for-alls to the most prestigious championships in WWE being defended in high-stakes matches, the Rumble kicks off the Road to WrestleMania in the most dramatic way possible. On January 27, the Road to WrestleMania begins in thrilling fashion at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, as your favorite WWE Superstars begin the journey to Philadelphia for WrestleMania 40!
Here are the matches currently slated for Royal Rumble 2024 with more to come.
Fatal 4-Way Match For the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. LA Knight
Sometimes, hubris gets the best of us – even if your name is Roman Reigns.
The reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has been champion for years – and Reigns shows no signs of slowing down, demolishing his opposition and laughing off comments made from returning WWE Superstars like The Rock. Reigns has made it known that not one person in the locker room can stop him – but at the Royal Rumble, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is making Roman Reigns put his money where his mouth is as he will defend his championship against three opponents at once: Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and LA Knight.

Over the years, Roman Reigns' title defenses have primarily come against one opponent, and conventional wisdom suggests that defeating three WWE Superstars instead of one is approximately 100 times harder! Each challenger has staked their claim to the throne of Roman Reigns, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown in St. Petersburg that promises to tear the roof off of Tropicana Field!
United States Championship Match: Logan Paul vs. Kevin Owens
Logan Paul has made headlines over the past few years as his ascent up the ranks of WWE has been nothing short of historic. After defeating Rey Mysterio for the United States Title at WWE Crown Jewel in November, The Maverick has curiously been absent on WWE television – until recently. The WWE Universe has been itching to see Paul make his first title defense, and judging from what's been taking place on SmackDown for the past month; his challenger has been set.
Kevin Owens won the U.S. Title's number-one contender tournament to win a showdown with Paul at the Royal Rumble, immediately casting doubt on whether Logan Paul has what it takes to walk out of Tropicana Field and still hold onto the championship. Owens' performance throughout the tournament was impressive – he defeated Austin Theory, Carmelo Hayes, and Santos Escobar successively. At Royal Rumble, fans will ask the same question: Will ring rust be an issue for the champion, who hasn't competed in nearly three months? While Logan Paul has squashed all chatter around him "not belonging" in WWE, at Royal Rumble, he'll be across the ring from one of the most accomplished WWE Superstars ever!
Men's Royal Rumble Match
The winners of the annual Royal Rumble matches receive arguably the greatest gift a WWE Superstar can receive: A WrestleMania main event for the most prestigious championship in the world. For the men's locker room, winning the Rumble match means getting a shot at either the World Heavyweight Title or the Undisputed WWE Universal Title in Philadelphia.
To say the stakes are high is an understatement.
With several top WWE Superstars already predicting a Rumble victory on January 27, the WWE Universe eagerly anticipates the bout, which will be more star-studded than ever. CM Punk has made it known his goal is to win the Rumble. Cody Rhodes famously still intends to "finish the story." Drew McIntyre, fresh off failing to capture Seth Rollins' World Heavyweight Championship on Monday Night Raw, promised to use the Royal Rumble match to catapult himself to the top of WWE's pecking order once again.
There will be 30 men competing in the match – and as always, the WWE Universe will surely witness some jaw-dropping surprise entrants along the way.
Women's Royal Rumble Match
Over on the women's side, tensions are high as each WWE Superstar wants to be the one who finally knocks Rhea Ripley or IYO SKY off their respective perch as champion. Some of the biggest names in sports entertainment have already confirmed their participation in the Royal Rumble match, including Becky Lynch, Nia Jax, Bayley, and Bianca Belair.
Truth be told, any of those four women could conceivably win the Rumble, but with 26 unknowns still slated to make up the rest of the field, there's plenty of time for a dark horse favorite to emerge. Since its inception in 2018, the women's Royal Rumble match has been more shocking than the men's version, as it has historically served as a gateway for legendary WWE Superstars to return to the ring!
One thing's for sure: Whoever is the last woman standing will be the biggest challenge yet to either Rhea Ripley (the Women's World Heavyweight Champion) or IYO SKY (the WWE Women's Champion) at WrestleMania 40. We can't wait to see how January 27 turns out because we expect the unexpected!
