Logan Paul on Ricochet's SummerSlam Kick to the Face: "I Like That Actual Pain"
We're sure plenty of other WWE Superstars would love for Logan Paul to feel more pain in the future!
SummerSlam 2023 is in the rearview mirror, but thankfully, the events that transpired will keep fans talking for a long time. August 5 served as a memorable night for the WWE Universe, with arguably nothing more memorable than the opening match between Logan Paul and Ricochet.
Unsurprisingly, two of the most gravity-defying Superstars gave the sold-out crowd in Detroit everything they could physically give; the match was filled with heart-stopping moments that would make Shawn Michaels in his prime envious.
What Are Logan Paul's Post-SummerSlam Thoughts?
As is tradition, Logan Paul took to his podcast the Monday after competing at a WWE Premium Live Event to speak candidly about his match. Almost immediately, he took issue with his brother, Jake, who had a boxing match the same night as Logan's bout with Ricochet at SummerSlam.
"Why do I look worse than you, and you had a fight?" Logan incredulously asked his brother. Despite the chasm of difference between boxing and sports entertainment, Logan confessed that the pain he suffered at the hands of Ricochet's lightning-fast offense was something he could get used to.
"He kicked me in the face," Logan explained. "I think it was a kick in the first two minutes, but I liked it. I like that actual pain."
It's no secret that we here at USA Insider – as well as the rest of the WWE Universe – have been consistently blown away by the in-ring progress Logan Paul has made since his debut at WrestleMania 38. By all accounts, he moves like a ten-year veteran of the industry, not a rookie with just a handful of matches on his resume. To Logan's credit, the brash Superstar has taken a vested interest in being the best wrestler he can be.
"I've gotten better with the mechanics of my wrestling moves," Paul admitted. "That SummerSlam was fun. I was really tired in there – I was exhausted for some reason, and especially trying to focus on the match and perform while I'm tired and also knowing the weight of the night ahead, because that wasn't even the most exciting part of the night for me. It was a night to remember."
Of course, in true Logan Paul fashion, he downplayed his WWE appearance and called his brother's boxing match the most exciting part of his night. Come on, Logan, WWE deserves better than that!
As far as his SummerSlam opponent was concerned, Logan had nothing but positive things to say about Ricochet.
"Ricochet is so good," Logan declared. "That guy is so good. He made it easy to look good. It was a fun match, man."
What Did Vince McMahon Say to Logan Paul After WrestleMania 38?
The future remains bright for Logan Paul, who has already tangled in the ring with the likes of Ricochet, The Miz, Seth Rollins, Rey Mysterio, and Roman Reigns. If it seems like a rocket is attached to the back of Logan, you wouldn't be the first person to recognize the charisma and talent he possesses. In fact, during a recent appearance on the Stephen A. Smith Show, Logan recounted the first time Vince McMahon gave him feedback about his burgeoning WWE career.
"You know, in the WWE Universe, boos are fantastic," Logan explained. "Boos are great, cheers are great. Silence is bad. And I ignite, like lit this crowd up [at WrestleMania 38], and I get backstage and I go to Vince McMahon and he says something to me like, 'Oh, your future is here.' And I think we all kind of realized at the same time I could do this – I like it, and I'm good at it."
To his credit, not even Logan Paul himself could have predicted his success in WWE thus far – and it seems like the 28-year-old is intending to slow down anytime soon!
"I didn't see it coming. I'm in a multi-year contract with the WWE and I'm willing to put it all on the line every single match and I think the fans react to my performances."
