Santos Escobar & Son Call Out Dominik Mysterio, Judgment Day Ahead Of WrestleMania 39
Rey Mysterio will fight his son at WrestleMania and Santos Escobar promises to be there to keep things fair.
Ahead of WrestleMania 39, Santos Escobar and his son had some choice words for Dominik Mysterio ahead of his high-profile match against his own father, Rey Mysterio.
Speaking to USA Insider's Tara Bennett days before WWE's Show of Shows kicks off in Hollywood on April 1 and 2, Escobar spoke alongside his faction, Legado del Fantasma, and his son where he promised they would all be there at WrestleMania paying close attention to the match between father and son following weeks of bad blood between them. For Escobar, he vowed to ensure the match is fair for Rey.

“We're not part of the card,” Escobar told us. “Of course, I could have gone and chased something, a match for myself. [Legado del Fantasma] could have gone and chased a match for themselves, tag-team action, but I think this is more important than us.”
He continued: “Our very tradition is at stake here. The tradition of luchador. So it's OK not to have a match, but we're going to be there to make sure that Rey has a fair and clean opportunity to correct his son, to protect our business, to protect our industry.”
For weeks, Dominik has been pushing his father into a match ever since he turned on him in September and revealed he was joining Judgment Day. Rey avoided confrontation for as long as he could, but when his son disrespected and insulted his mother, he felt his hand was forced. Now, Santos believes it’s his duty to make sure this is not a war of factions, but a father and son settling their beef.
“We're going to be back there in the curtain. We're going to let them do their thing,” he explained. “But rest assured, if anyone tries to get involved, namely Judgment Day, we will be there.”
Even Escobar’s son felt inspired to share some choice words with Dominik, telling us that he was “sad” to see the bond between father and son break so heavily.
“Dominic is hearing this? You’ve got to give respect to the people that helped you grow, that helped you improve,” the youngster said. “Your dad gave you the tools to grow and you just rejected him. The disrespect just made me sad.”
He added: “I respect my dad with all my heart and it just destroyed me inside how you can't. The disrespect just amazed me. I just want to say something. If you lose it, I want you to learn something. Respect your parents, respect your family.”
So, with the Escobar family and more on hand to make sure nothing unfair happens to Rey, their bout at WrestleMania promises to be a sight to behold with everything on the line and massive consequences both personal and professional that are sure to follow.
