What You Need To Know About Blake Shelton's Connection To Jimmy Buffett
"Barmageddon" will feature plenty of live music, andJimmy Buffett is responsible for one of its catchiest tunes.
Those who tune into “Barmageddon” will hear a lot of music when Blake Shelton and some of his celebrity friends perform at his bar, Ole Red, in Nashville, Tennessee. However, one of the biggest toe-tappers will undoubtedly be the original opening song.
Shelton performs the catchy theme music to “Barmageddon.” While most of what the country singer belts out is great, this song in particular is special because it was written just for him by legendary hitmakers Jimmy Buffett of “Margaritaville” fame and Mac McAnally.
Those two have worked together on many projects in the past; in fact, McAnally has been a member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band for decades. While they’ve never fully collaborated with Shelton, all three have been in the music business for most of their adult lives and have crossed paths many times.

Meanwhile, Shelton has demonstrated many times that, in addition to being friendly with Buffett, he is a true fan. The country singer began his 2004 single “Some Beach” with a reference to listening to Buffett’s “Margaritaville.” He also included the song in a 2015 list for Amazon Music in which he handpicked his favorite summer anthems.
Also included on that list? Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, and his other good friend in music, Trace Adkins. Both will appear on future episodes of “Barmageddon” after its premiere on Dec. 5, 2022. The show will see various celebrities join Shelton, Carson Daly and host Nikki Bella at the Nashville restaurant for a series of heightened bar games and live music.
To level the playing field, the celebs will each be joined by average people who all share one thing in common: Each non-celebrity contestant has been the star of a viral video that was, let’s just say, unflattering to them. So, they’re able to use their time winning games on “Barmageddon” as some redemption.
Tune into “Barmageddon” on USA Network on Dec. 5. You can catch more game show content on Peacock right now.
