Blake Shelton Searching For 'Greatest Bar Athletes: Barthletes' In USA's 'Barmageddon'
Blake Shelton, Carson Daly, and Nikki Bella appeared at the NBCUniversal Upfronts to discuss their new USA Network show, "Barmageddon."
Hosts of the upcoming USA Network series “Barmageddon,” Blake Shelton, Carson Daly, and Nikki Bella, appeared today at the NBCUniversal upfronts presentation where they discussed their goals for the upcoming celebrity competition game show.
In a post shared on the USA Network’s Instagram Stories, the trio can be seen on stage discussing "Barmageddon" and all the work they’ve done in their lives that led them to be the perfect hosts for such a show.
“Blake, Nikki, and I spent years, decades really doing hard, in-the-field research for this show,” Daly jokes. “Thousands of hours in bars, all over the country. Even drinking at times.”
Shelton also explained that he wants to find the world’s top-tier athletes for the show… at least when it comes to bar games, that is.
“I’m on a search of the world’s greatest bar athletes… ‘Barthletes,’” he says.
Ahead of the presentation, host and WWE Superstar Bella took to Instagram to show off her outfit: a lime green tank top and long sequin pants that she says give off "Barmageddon Vibes.”
The game show will see people compete in some highly competitive head-to-head bar games such as Air Cannon Cornhole, Keg Curling, Drunken Axe Hole, Sharts (“Shelton Darts”), and many more all housed at Shelton’s real-life Nashville bar, Ole Red. The country singer will take to the stage for some live music while Daly works the bar making sure no one goes thirsty as they compete for cash prizes.
“Nashville is known for great music and hospitality, which makes it the perfect setting,” Shelton said in a press release announcing the show. “I’m excited about ‘Barmageddon’ and can’t wait for friends, old and new, to join my buddy Carson and me for some drinks, music, and high-spirited fun at Ole Red.”
In addition to their respective stage and bar duties, Shelton and Daly plan to coach some of the contestants and offer their sage words of wisdom culled from years at the bar together. Of course, fans who know the duo won't be shocked to hear there will also be a healthy amount of trash-talking and good-natured heckling between from as well.
They won’t be the only ones lending their star power to “Barmegeddon." Each episode will feature two other celebrities who will compete alongside a different person who has gone viral on the Internet. The hope is to offer these people a chance to redeem themselves in the public eye after their misadventures were caught on film and went viral for the world to see.
The series will be among the many new shows coming to USA Network in 2022 and 2023.
