Cora Jade Shocks WWE Universe, Drops Women's Tag Team Championship In Trash

Well, that escalated quickly.

The WWE Universe wanted answers and they got them.

On WWE NXT Tuesday night, Cora Jade wasted no time completely redefining herself in the eyes of fans and her fellow competitors.

The charismatic, athletic, and scrappy Superstar who had the entire WWE Universe behind her as she climbed up the ranks of NXT and developed a true friendship with Roxanne Perez has officially turned her back on her friends – and every single person who’s ever cheered her on inside the ring.

In a scathing in-ring appearance armed with only a microphone and her half of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship, Cora Jade made it known that the woman who jumped off the top of the WarGames steel cage last year is gone. The woman who stole the show that night – as well as the hearts of the WWE Universe – is no more.

And just as the WWE Universe was wondering what to make of the relationship between Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez, Jade put all optimism to rest as she explained why exactly she sabotaged Perez’s NXT Women’s Championship opportunity last week against Mandy Rose.

As it turns out, Perez’s aspirations to become NXT Women’s Champion rubbed Jade the wrong way.

With dreams of becoming the greatest Women’s Tag Team Champions in NXT history, Jade viewed Perez’s newfound goal as a slap in the face. At one point in the ring, she addressed Perez directly:

“What the hell are you thinking, Rox? I wanted to make these titles the most important titles in the WWE, and you’re over it?”

Her scathing message to the NXT locker room and the WWE Universe didn’t end there, as she continued: “And for those of you cheering for that right now, you’re the same people who were chanting ‘Roxy Two-Belts’ last week so as far as I’m concerned, you can go to hell.”

And with that, Cora Jade shocked the world by calmly walking out of the ring, declaring her NXT Women’s Tag Team Title “a lie” – and casually dropping the championship in a trash can. The fans in attendance were stunned, to say the least. It’s not every day that a Superstar discards a championship like an old pair of socks – let alone so soon after winning it!

NXT commentator Wade Barrett was rightfully aghast, calling it “the most disrespectful thing I have seen in the past 25 years – a slap in the face to anyone who has ever won a championship in this industry.”

Naturally, questions have come up that makes next week’s episode of NXT 2.0 a must-watch. What will Cora Jade say – or do – next? Will we hear from Roxanne Perez? What will become of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships? We’re going to be tuning in for sure, because this story can go in what seems like endless different directions – and we’re here for it.

Maybe the biggest takeaway from last night is the fact that the WWE Universe simply doesn’t know who Cora Jade is anymore. At the height of her popularity, she was jumping off the top of steel cages with the full support of the WWE Universe behind her. The sky was the limit.

The Cora Jade we see now – we don’t know this woman. We don’t know what she’s capable of. Based on how flippantly she dropped her title in the trash, it seems like she’s capable of literally anything – and that’s not a good omen for the rest of the women in the NXT locker room.

And just like that, the True Generation of Jade has begun.
