What To Expect At WrestleMania Backlash

WWE’s upcoming WrestleMania Backlash is the place for Superstars to get back at those who showed them up at WrestleMania. It's also an event where new rivalries will undoubtedly take shape.

The event, which streams live on Sunday, May 8, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Peacock, is loaded both with rematches from WWE's marquee event in April, as well as new clashes. Here are some of the most anticipated:

Seth Rollins gets a second crack at Cody Rhodes

These two have been feuding since Rhodes defeated Rollins at last month's WrestleMania, a loss Rollins has not taken well. During “Raw After WrestleMania,” he interrupted Rhodes' triumphant address to the crowd, wishing him a presumably facetious “welcome home.” A couple of weeks later, Rollins handpicked his pal Kevin Owens to fight Rhodes, hoping he'd get a little vicarious retribution. It didn't work out for him. The pair agreed to a rematch during Raw on April 11.

The bad blood between Rhodes and Rollins only intensified on the most recent Raw, during which Rollins held a self-appointed "appreciation night” for himself. Rhodes crashed the event, acknowledging Rollins has been one of the most electrifying WWE Superstars over the last two decades, but labeling him "delusional" (and he got in a pretty sick burn about Rollins' fashion sense). Rollins then took a cheap shot at Rhodes’ late father, WWE legend Dusty Rhodes, twisting the knife about how the elder Rhodes never won the WWE Championship. On Sunday, the two will face off in a match that WWE teases will be an “instant classic.”

The Bloodline will be tested

Could The Bloodline be taken down a notch? Roman Reigns and The Usos (Jey and Jimmy Uso) have been riding high lately, particularly since Reigns’ monumental win over Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania in April when he unified the WWE and Universal Championship titles. Since then, The Usos set about trying to pull off their own version of that feat and challenged RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) in the hopes of uniting the SmackDown and Raw Tag Team Titles. And RK-Bro was all about it, but on the April 29 edition of SmackDown, Reigns shockingly ripped up the Backlash Tag Team Unification Match contract. 

In the wake of that, Drew McIntyre decided to join RK-Bro to defeat The Usos and Reigns, and now a six-man tag team match has been set. Fans got a taste of what it'll be like on Monday’s Raw, when all six got into a brawl at the opening of the show. So will the The Bloodline continue to reign supreme, or will it fall from its pedestal this weekend?

Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair will clash

Ronda Rousey was poised to beat Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania in her first singles match in three years, but there was just one problem: the referee had been knocked out after Flair inadvertently speared him. As Rousey tried to get him to come to, Flair showed her the underside of her boot and pinned her. So Flair retained her SmackDown Women’s Title. Now in a highly anticipated rematch, Rousey hopes to rewrite that ending.

Adding the to drama, the Backlash bout is an “I Quit” match, meaning one of these two Superstars will have to submit. Can Rousey attain the SmackDown Women’s Title she feels she's entitled to?

Bobby Lashley and Omos renew hostilities

At WrestleMania Backlash, Bobby Lashley will once again fight Omos. Lashley was feeling pretty good after his WrestleMania match against Omos last month, only to be stabbed in the back and laid low just one day later.

Lashley’s longtime ally MVP felt left out after not being included in the WrestleMania match and in turn, betrayed him on the “Raw After WrestleMania.” He aligned himself with Omos, who showed up to exact payback. And that's exactly what he did, subjecting Lashley to a savage beating with MVP's help.

Does Lashley still have what it takes to beat out Omos or will the sting of betrayal lead to his downfall?
