WWE Announces WrestleMania 40 Dates And Location: Everything You Need To Know
WWE announced Wednesday morning where WrestleMania 40 will take place ...
WWE officially announced this morning that the city of Philadelphia is set to host WrestleMania 40, WWE's greatest "pop-culture extravaganza," on April 6-7, 2024, at the Lincoln Financial Field. This is the first time Philadelphia has hosted WrestleMania in 25 years.
In past years, WrestleMania has generated over $1.25 billion in economic impact for host cities that take on the Showcase of the Immortals, per WWE. It's not just WrestleMania, though; SmackDown, RAW, NXT Takeover, and the Hall of Fame ceremony will all take place in Philadelphia as well, making Philly the place to be for wrestling fans next spring.
“We are proud to welcome WWE fans from around the world to Philadelphia to be a part of this historic WrestleMania. The week-long series of events will help put a global spotlight on our great city while also generating a major impact for our local economy," Philadelphia’s Mayor, Jim Kenney, said in a press release.
Last April, over 155,000 fans from all 50 states and 53 countries attended WrestleMania in Dallas. The show generated over $200 million for the Dallas area. As it has in past years, WWE will also be hosting various community outreach programs during WrestleMania 2024, including anti-bullying campaigns at schools and children’s hospital visits.
“On behalf of WWE, we are thrilled to bring WrestleMania back to the City of Brotherly Love. We thank all of our local partners who were integral in making this long-awaited return a reality," WWE Executive Vice President of Special Events John Saboor said.
The first WrestleMania took place in New York City in 1985. The show was conceptualized by the recently retired Vince McMahon to be wrestling’s version of the Super Bowl. Since then, it has become the largest, most financially successful, and most prestigious wrestling show of the year. Stars such as The Undertaker, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, and John Cena have all made names for themselves on the so-called "Grandest Stage of Them All." So save the date! You won’t want to miss WrestleMania’s 40th anniversary!
And be on the lookout in the near future for ticketing and further event details for WrestleMania 40, taking place April 6-7 next year.
