Why 'Love Is Blind' Stars Kyle Abrams and Deepti Vempati Split
Deepti Vempati recently opened up about her surprising breakup with fellow "Love Is Blind" star Kyle Abrams.
As viewers know, relationships that develop on reality TV shows like “Temptation Island” and “Love Island” can be difficult to maintain. For example, one of the more complicated love stories on Netflix’s “Love Is Blind” seems to have had an equally complicated end.
Kyle Abrams and Deepti Vempati first met on Season 2 of “Love Is Blind.” Although they didn’t leave the show as a couple, he announced during the season’s After-Show that he had feelings for her. The declaration led many fans to wonder if they’d end up falling in love, and they confirmed they were giving it a go on the “Love Is Blind: After The Altar” episode.
However, in a shocking twist, just days later, Kyle took to Instagram to reveal that they’d broken up at the beginning of the summer and that he had already moved on with someone else.
“I understand many of you are curious as to where Deepti and I stand today. Since ‘After the Alter’ was filmed, we had decided to go our separate ways in early summer. Thank you to everyone who has followed our journey through arduous vulnerability and has supported us along the way,” he wrote. “I have since embarked on a new relationship which I intend to keep private for a bit. As for what the future holds, I have not a clue. Going forward I plan to live each day in the present without any regret.”
Deepti also shared a brief note on social media confirming the split.
But why didn't it work out? Fortunately for curious fans, Deepti offered some insight into the breakup during an interview with PEOPLE. She explained they felt like they needed to explore the obvious feelings they had between each other and have no regrets about that. Unfortunately, they also needed to address when things weren’t working anymore.
“Toward early summer, we just saw that the energy was shifting," Deepti explained. "There was so much pressure on us, we weren't talking about our wants and needs. And I think we just realized that being friends is really a much better path for us to be better people, and to grow, we needed to grow our separate ways and figure out what life has to offer."

She noted that the relationship being in the public eye, as well as her insecurities mixed with Kyle’s propensity to flirt, also contributed to the end of the relationship.
Those who want a more in-depth look at the rise and fall of her relationship with Kyle can get all the details in her new book “I Choose Myself.”
As for how she feels about his new girlfriend, there are no hard feelings there at all. Speaking to E! News, Deepti confessed that she actually likes Kyle’s new significant other.
“Actually, I've met her a couple of times because Kyle and I run into each other all the time in Chicago at the same events and things," she said. "She's so sweet! She even came up to me and was like, ‘You're so sweet!' And I'm like, 'Yeah, of course I'm not going to be a mean girl. That's not who I am at all.'"
