'Life In The Fast Lane' Stars Austin & Whitney Dillon Talk Importance Of Faith In Life & Racing
NASCAR's Austin Dillon and his wife Whitney discussed the importance of showing their faith on their new reality show "Life In The Fast Lane."
Those who tuned into the premiere episode of “Austin Dillon’s Life In The Fast Lane” likely noticed what a big role their faith plays in their lives. Speaking to USA Insider, Austin and Whitney Dillon elaborated on what it means to them to be able to showcase their spiritual side on TV.
In the first episode, the audience saw the gang of four — Austin, Whitney, and their friends Paul and Mariel Swan — pray ahead of their meals as well as “Pastor Dillon” give a speech to his Richard Childress Racing team to inspire them through faith ahead of the next series of races.
“Through my God, that I can’t even fathom are accomplishable,” he says in the episode.
In an interview with USA Insider, both Whitney and Austin explained the role that their faith plays in their everyday life on and off the track.
“Faith has really been number one for our relationship and for all four of us in our friendship and really just our role in life,” Whitney explained. “I know for a fact that God gave us this platform for a reason and it’s to share our faith to the world and just to show how good He is.”
Dillon, meanwhile, noted that his relationship with God has always been there, but it was kicked into high gear when he started dating Whitney.
“When Whitney came into my life, my singular focus was me and racing and what I had going on,” he explained. “I grew up in a family that believed in God and we went to church but it just got to a point where racing took over my main focus and God got put on the back burners. Then Whitney and I started talking and I wanted to be so perfect for her when I was starting out, I still do, but you know you try a little extra when you first start out dating and stuff.”
He says she got his focus back on his faith and believes his life has generally improved since.
“So, for me, it’s just letting people see that and hopefully they can learn from that and take in that happiness starts with you and your relationship with God and loving yourself and starting there,” he said. “God puts certain people in your life and when you get the opportunity to be around them, you cherish those moments in time. I know, for whatever reason, Whitney came into my life at the perfect time and then our relationship started, and then Mariel and Paul’s and we all just kinda got together.”
Now, thanks to their paths converging in that way, the group of four are looking ahead to both a bright future in NASCAR racing as well as reality TV stardom on USA Network’s “Austin Dillon’s Life In The Fast Lane.”
