All About That Left-Field Couple to Throuple Cliffhanger You Didn’t See Coming
The new Peacock dating show left viewers shook after Ashmal and Rehman made a "life-changing" decision.
Viewers were left slack-jawed after Couple to Throuple’s third episode, and yes, we’re still scratching our heads.
Ashmal Ali and Rehman Bhatti had a challenging time welcoming one of the singles, Jonathan, into their relationship, but things were taking a turn for the best, as seen throughout Episode 3. That all changed, however, when the couple decided to move on from their man in the middle, a decision that no one saw coming.
What happened at the end of Couple to Throuple Episode 3?
It initially seemed that Jonathan could have made for an ideal addition to Ashmal and Rehman’s romance, and things certainly looked steamy under the sheets. But it wasn’t long before Rehman’s vibe shifted before the group’s eyes, and he wasn’t happy after Ashmal and Jonathan shared an intimate kiss during a group exercise where Rehman was forced to watch.
Safe word, anyone?
“It’s absolutely rude when us three are trying to have a conversation, and you’re staring into space where I have to remind you, ‘Hey, you wanna look this way?’” Ashmal told his partner. “It’s not who you are.”
Later in the episode, Rehman pulled Jonathan aside and apologized. As it turned out, the men liked one another more than they’d thought, and felt a strong physical attraction between them.

Though Rehman needed some time to adjust to having a third party — which had forced Jonathan into a few awkward moments — both Rehman and Jonathan agreed there was great potential to becoming a throuple.
“What can I say? Jonathan is a cutie with a booty, and I [was] just so happy in that moment,” Rehman told Couple to Throuple producers. “I was going to take Jonathan’s hand, and we were just gonna ride off into the sunset together.”
As a trio, the men enjoyed a picnic on the beach and discussed their throuple-ship further and all the things they had in common.
“This is definitely more of what I wanted,” Jonathan admitted. “We are having a great time, and there has been a big, big change, especially from day one.”
When given the option to keep Jonathan or try a new single, it seemed it would be a no-brainer.
The participants gathered with host Scott Evans, and the established couples had to decide whether to keep their single or swap them for a chance to experiment with another.
“The last few days have been pretty life-changing for me,” Rehman told Evans and the group. “We went through some pretty dark times, but also some times that were pretty lit. And I think by bringing Jonathan into our relationship, it brought a lot of things out of us that we needed to learn about ourselves.”
Ashmal agreed with his partner, saying he saw a new side to Rehman for being “vulnerable” and “brave” throughout the experiment. In fact, for Ashmal, it was like falling in love all over again.
Jonathan looked confident when Evans asked the couple if they’d like to stay with their current single or move on to another.
But then Rehman dropped a bombshell: “After talking it over, we decided that we would like to move on to something new.”
Audiences will have to watch the fourth episode to see what happens next.
Couple to Throuple’s host Scott Evans previously warned viewers about the Episode 3 cliffhanger when discussing the series with USA Insider.
“This show is going to surprise you from the beginning to the end because you’re gonna see yourself and be like, ‘Oh, I would have made this choice,’ and they make a different choice,” said Evans.
The host said he couldn’t pick just one “shocking” moment of the series.
“But I will tell you, at the end of the third episode, baby, I didn’t know what was gonna happen,” he told USA Insider. “At one point, I looked at Dr. Shamyra [Howard] who was standing off-camera, and I was like, ‘Are they about to…? Is this about to…?’”
Evans added, “I can’t wait for y’all to see how it turns out.”
