The Rock Reminisces On Being Powerbombed By The Shield Nearly 10 Years Ago
The Rock called out Seth Rollins for a nasty powerbomb he was on the wrong end of back in the day on WWE.
In late 2012 and early 2013, one group was wreaking constant havoc on WWE. That group was The Shield and the three Superstars who made up the team would go on to become the three biggest singles wrestlers in the industry today. Nobody was safe from The Shield’s wrath, not even The Rock, who fell victim to a Triple Powerbomb through the announcer's table at Royal Rumble 2013.
Yesterday, The Rock took to Instagram Live alongside Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, and former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz to shed some light on The Shield’s attack and reminisce on their dominance in the business.
He told fans exactly what it felt like to get slammed through the announce table and the difference in the way both Rollins and Reigns reacted to the slam.
“You know what was really cool? When The Shield attacked me before WrestleMania, and then Powerbombed me. And I remember Seth, I was on Roman’s shoulders, and Seth in particular threw me down so hard on that mat. Busted my blood vessels, blood started coming out of my mouth. And he looked down, Roman looked down and was like, ‘You okay Uso?’ Called me brother in Samoan. And before I could answer Seth was like, ‘Who gives a s**t,’ and he walked away," he said.
Rollins laughed and claimed that he didn’t have full memory of the attack as it was almost 10 years ago, however, Becky Lynch let fans know he “has no regrets and would do it again."
The Rock would go on to defeat CM Punk and win the WWE Championship during that match. He would eventually lose the title to John Cena at WrestleMania 29.
It’s been years since The Rock wrestled a match for WWE, but rumors have been running rampant on social media for years now that he will eventually return to face his cousin, Roman Reigns.
