The Miz Reveals How 'Dancing With The Stars' Changed His Relationship With His Kids
The Miz competed in Season 30 of "Dancing With The Stars," and his daughters still aren't over the dancing craze that gripped their home.
On the latest episode of “Miz & Mrs,” viewers saw Mike Mizanin at the height of his stress and workload on “Dancing With The Stars.” However, he says that what the cameras didn’t pick up is the way his time on the show impacted his household.
In the first two episodes of Season 3, Mike wrestled with the decision to join the show given how much work it would take. Thanks to some encouragement from his better half, Maryse, he agreed and spend weeks training with his professional partner, Witney Carson.
Mike has been public about the toll working on becoming a dancer took on his body, including a 15-pound weight loss. However, speaking to USA Insider, Mike and Maryse revealed that working on the show gave the whole Mizanin household the dancing bug.
After watching their dad on "DWTS" every week, their two young girls couldn’t help but recreate what their dad was doing. Being good parents, Mike and Maryse obliged.
“My girls are now doing dance classes,” Maryse revealed. “They love music, they love dancing. And it's always at 9 p.m., they're back up from their beds and want to dance in the kitchen. They're running and dancing around. So we do that. We do that now for 15 to 20 minutes every night since Mike did ‘Dancing With The Stars.’”
“‘I want to dance! I want to dance, Dada!’” Mike said, imitating Monroe and Madison.
Even if it means stopping everything to do impromptu kitchen dance parties each night, Mike noted that he was motivated to do the show by the very idea that his daughters would see him try something so difficult, overcome his self-doubt, and be proud of him.
“I mean, I think the coolest part about it is, and Maryse mentioned this, I was debating whether to do ‘Dance With The Stars’ because I knew the work it's going to take,” he explained. “And I'm not a dancer, you know, that's scary. And Maryse said, ‘Think about the girls. Think about how much work you're going to put into this and then think about when you look at the finished product and you did it, you did something you weren't good at. You worked at it and then you went out there and did the best you possibly could. Don't you want our girls to see that and actually be able to do it?’”
Mike concluded: “And now I look back at those dances and I go, ‘Man, I did really good and I'm really proud of them. Like, I'm really proud of this dance, and I'm glad I did it.’”
To see how the rest of Mike’s “Dancing With The Stars” journey played out at home as well as what other fun things are going on in the Mizanin household, fans will just have to tune into “Miz & Mrs” Monday nights at 11 p.m. ET on USA Network.
