A Double Elimination Leads To A Heartfelt Declaration On 'The Courtship'

Last week's episode of "The Courtship" ended with the most shocking farewell dance to date, when Ms. Nicole Rémy decided she didn't want to send anyone home — after all, a new suitor, Mr. Miles Nazaire, had just arrived to the house to shake things up and intimidate the men with his flawless French and exquisite British accent. 

But that reprieve couldn't last forever: Here's who went home in Episode 8 of "The Courtship."

What Happened In Episode 8 Of "The Courtship"

The suitors are intimidated to learn they'll be attending a very fancy dinner up at the castle — and that four of them will get to attend an exclusive after-party to play parlor games with Nicole. 

The dinner goes well for most people, although Mr. Christian Lee Cones interrupts Mr. Rémy's speech to make one of the most awkward and ill-timed toasts possible. The winner of the dinner seems to be Mr. Nazaire, who very much impressed Nicole's parents, although Mr. Daniel Bochicchio, despite being a pescatarian, earns points for elegantly cutting the turkey.

The men who ultimately get to attend the afterparty are Mr. Nazaire, Mr. Boccicchio, Mr. Charlie Mumbray, and Mr. Lincoln Chapman. And while the intimate gathering starts off with more traditional Regency-era games (including meowing like a cat while everyone tries not to laugh), it ultimately devolves into a fame of "Never Have I Ever." The standard spicy questions are asked, but the one that causes the biggest stir is when Mr. Chapman admits he has indeed feared commitment before.

The following day is spent shooting, where Mrs. Rémy, a former military doctor, does such an amazing job she terrifies Mr. Cones, who nervously describes her as a sniper mom.

And then we're off to the farewell dance! Unfortunately, because no one went home last week, this is a more unnerving ceremony than usual: There are four dances. Mr. Chapman, Mr. Dan Hunter, Mr. Mumbray, and Mr. Jaquan Holland are the ones who have to face the music.

Nicole admits to Mr. Mumbray she feels they are in the friendzone and sends him home, as he concedes he can't make her love him. It's a similar reason why she has to send Mr. Holland home, which ends in one of the most emotional goodbyes yet this season for both Nicole and the rest of the suitors.

But an interesting moment does happen with Mr. Chapman, who seems rattled by being in the bottom four. He tells Nicole he is falling for her — a feeling she admits she has too for the first time during this experiment. Is he our new frontrunner for her heart?
