For those unfamiliar, Suits debuted in 2011 and followed the exploits of Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), a hot-shot New York City attorney with a reputation for closing some of the most difficult cases. When it’s time to hire some new blood to the law firm, he wants exactly that: someone different who isn’t just a carbon-copy Harvard graduate.

He’s in luck when a young hustler named Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) slips into his office to try to avoid some unwanted police attention. He even fakes his way into an interview with Harvey wherein he reveals he has a unique mind that allows him to fully absorb the information he sees just with a glance. Armed with that special talent and a surprisingly gifted legal mind (even though he doesn’t have a law degree), Harvey gives Mike a chance. They team up to handle some of the most high-profile and complicated cases in the city and look damn good doing it.
In addition, the show’s supporting cast — which includes Sarah Rafferty, Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, and the woman who would go on to join the real-life royal family, Meghan Markle — helped make the show the powerhouse series it is today.
