Riddle Not Medically Cleared For SummerSlam, Match Against Seth Rollins Delayed
The highly anticipated match-up between Riddle and Seth "Freakin'" Rollins is delayed due to an injury Riddle sustained in the ring.
It looks like the WWE Universe will have to wait to witness one of SummerSlam's marquee matchups.
Monday's edition of "Raw" ended with Seth "Freakin'" Rollins ambushing Riddle with a pair of devastating Stomps as the show faded to black.
"How will Riddle be ready for Saturday?" wondered the "Raw" announcement team as his SummerSlam opponent openly taunted him, much to the chagrin of the WWE Universe.
As it turns out, Riddle won't be ready for Saturday after all.
WWE's Kayla Braxton broke the news during The Bump on YouTube earlier this afternoon that Riddle has been diagnosed with an injured brachial plexus thanks to the Stomps on both the steel steps and the arena floor on Monday.
WWE officials have officially ruled out any possibility of Riddle safely competing at SummerSlam and have declared his highly-anticipated matchup against Seth Rollins as indefinitely postponed.
We'll be honest, a brachial plexus injury sounds about as serious as an injury can be, and the WWE Universe is collectively crossing its fingers that this isn't a long-term injury that will effectively halt Riddle's forward momentum.
But for now, his path that seemed like it was heading on a potential collision course with Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship seems to have encountered a detour … for now.
What remains to be seen is what Seth Rollins' role will be this Saturday night at SummerSlam. With his match no longer happening, he becomes the biggest wild card in Nashville. Rollins — no stranger to being an incredible opportunist and taking advantage of every situation he finds himself in — may make his presence known at SummerSlam one way or another.
We don't think Seth Rollins would be content to just "take the night off" — in fact, we're pretty sure he's still laughing as he's reading this report, just like he was on Monday night when he put Riddle on the shelf.
Rollins' reaction on Twitter was simple, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's fully down for the count.
To put it simply: A Seth Rollins who is now free to do as he wishes at SummerSlam is a very dangerous Seth Rollins. Saturday night has suddenly become even more unpredictable!
