Seth Rollins Will Head To Money In The Bank After Beating AJ Styles
Seth Rollins outlasted AJ Styles during WWE Raw, becoming the first male Superstar to qualify for this year's Money in the Bank.
Seth "Freakin" Rollins became the first male WWE Superstar to qualify for the upcoming Money in the Bank ladder match.
On Monday Night Raw, Rollins beat out AJ Styles to qualify for the event, which will take place July 2 in Las Vegas and feature eight of the best male competitors in a tooth-and-nail competition to climb the Money in the Bank ladder. Whoever wins the briefcase suspended on top gets a guaranteed future Undisputed WWE Universal Title Match.
The match between Rollins and Styles was up for grabs throughout most of it. Of course, Rollins has been mostly preoccupied with Cody Rhodes recently, and defended last week's attack on "The American Nightmare," during which Rollins went after his rival with a sledgehammer following his third consecutive loss to Rhodes at "Hell in a Cell."
On Monday, during a pre-match interview, Rollins vowed to do the same to Styles if the latter stood in his way at Money in the Bank. But soon it was Styles on the offensive, punching Rollins him in the face and knocking him right out of his interview chair.
During the match, Styles looked to maintain the momentum, but appeared to injure his knee, giving Rollins enough of a window to eke out a win. Still, Styles nearly got a pin after suplexing Rollins into the turnbuckle, but Rollins narrowly kicked out. Then, after executing a Buckle Bomb on Styles, Rollins climbed to the top rope to finish things off, but seemingly became distracted by the Money in the Bank briefcases hanging overhead, giving Styles just enough time to recover. But Rollins ultimately was able to reverse an attempted Styles Clash and pin Styles with a cradle.
Who else will Rollins fight against in the ring for the briefcase? Only time will tell.
In another qualifier on Monday, Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan beat out Doudrop and Nikki ASH to qualify for the women's Money in the Bank match. Lacey Evans was the first to qualify.
