'Race For The Championship' Star Joey Logano On Juggling A Major Race And His Child's Birth
Joey Logano and his wife experienced a photo finish both on and off the track in the first episode of "Race For The Championship," which he discussed in a new interview with USA Insider.
Joey Logano recently discussed a big NASCAR victory as well as the storied birth of his third child, which was all chronicled in the premiere episode of the new USA Network series “Race For The Championship."
The episode saw Logano and his wife, Brittany Baca, in the final days of her pregnancy as he worried about whether his participation in an upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race would result in him missing the birth of his child.
As those who tuned into the series premiere last week know, the Logano family got lucky. A day and a half before his daughter, Emilia, was born, he was not only able to attend the race, but he won it. Speaking with USA Insider at the premiere of "Race For The Championship," he discussed what it meant to have that nail-biting series of events unfold on camera for the world to see.
“It’s a week that will never be replicated. You can’t reproduce what happened that week. Go out to The Clash, win the race, first time in the next-gen car at a new race track, a whole new experiment for a sport,” he told USA Insider digital correspondent Stephanie Gomulka. “Come home, a day and a half later, she pops out and says ‘Hello’ to the world and everything went smooth, right? There were plenty of opportunities for all that to go bad and it all went just the way it was planned. How often do things go as planned?”
He then explained how blessed he feels to have had the stars align in that way to make for one of the most memorable weeks of his life. As for what it's like now that Emilia is a member of the family, Logano says it’s been easier than his past experience led him to expect.
“She’s our great baby. We have a couple that are great as well but not as great when it comes to sleeping and all that. She’s been the easiest one we’ve had,” he told Gomulka. “Our other two were maniacs. They’re great, they’re nice kids but they just run around like all day long. I don’t know if that’s just a boy thing or a girl thing, I don't know, I don’t know if this is going to change one day but so far she’s a jam.”
Fans can see the drama unfold on the new USA Network series “Race For The Championship” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
