Peacock's 'Dangerous Breed' Seeks Answers From Teddy Hart, Nephew of Bret Hart

Peacock’s non-stop barrage of quality programming rolls on with Wednesday’s official announcement of “Dangerous Breed," a true crime-style documentary based on the life of a member of the legendary wrestling Hart family. And as the title suggests, the series is not about a member of the Hart family with whom the WWE Universe would be most familiar. “Dangerous Breed” is not about Bret Hart or Owen Hart, or even about their father, Stu Hart. The docuseries focuses on the man who has defined himself as the black sheep of the Hart legacy: Teddy Hart.

Teddy, decades ago pegged as the “next big thing” in professional wrestling — sorry, Brock! — is the son of Bret and Owen’s sister, Georgia, making him a third-generation athlete. And trust us when we tell you this, back in the early-to-mid-2000s, the hype surrounding Teddy Hart was real.

His jaw-dropping athleticism served as a preview for the landscape of professional wrestling during the past decade; Teddy was executing Canadian destroyers and double-rotation moonsaults before current gravity-defying WWE Superstars like Ricochet even graduated high school. He was that naturally talented. Credit that to the Hart DNA.

Unfortunately, attitude problems and personal demons followed Teddy Hart throughout his career, serving as metaphorical roadblocks from ever being featured in WWE.

While his escapades outside of the ring prevented him from ever reaching pro wrestling success outside of the independent scene, “Dangerous Breed” shines a light even further into his personal life, a life that has caused his family and friends — especially relatives like his Uncle Bret — to distance themselves as far away from Teddy as possible. As a wrestling fan, you may have heard stories about Teddy “going into business for himself” on multiple occasions on the independent circuit. Maybe you’re familiar with the professional and personal bridges Teddy has burned during his 20-year career.

Even if you’re familiar with those things, nothing will prepare you for the thrilling documentary series, officially titled “Dangerous Breed: Crime. Cons. Cats.”

This would be a gripping docuseries even without the cats.

Although Teddy Hart is ostracized from the rest of the Hart family, it’s no surprise that Peacock would want to produce a documentary revolving around him. Although he didn’t follow in the same footsteps as Bret and Owen — or even other members of the Hart family, like brother-in-law Davey Boy Smith — he is an intriguing part of wrestling history.

How can somebody who has both Hart family blood running through his veins and an otherworldly athletic acumen fail to reach the pinnacle of the pro wrestling world? How did it all go wrong for Teddy Hart? It seems like “Dangerous Breed” is aiming to answer those exact questions.
