Omos Reveals He Has Same Condition That Andre The Giant Dealt With
WWE Superstar Omos was on the “Say Less With Kaz, Lowkey and Rosy” podcast when he disclosed he was diagnosed with pituitary tumor in college.
WWE’s Omos joined the “Say Less With Kaz, Lowkey and Rosy” podcast this week where he opened up to fans about suffering from the same physical health conditions as André The Giant, but also having additional complications that even André did not have.
At seven feet, three inches tall, Omos makes for not only an imposing WWE Superstar, but a great basketball player as well. Omos explained that he discovered he had a condition while he was playing basketball for the University of South Florida.
“During freshman year I did all the physicals and nothing came up. I still had an enlarged heart, but I’m a big guy. That Monday, my head coach gets an email from the president of the university. So, this email was sent from a medical doctor [Dr. David Vesely] to the president and my head coach.” explained Omos.

It was in that email that Vesely theorized that Omos may have a tumor as well as other serious health complications.
"Based on his features, how big his hands are, how much his stature is, I think he has a pituitary tumor," Omos recounted Vesely's email stating.
Further testing, including an MRI of the brain, revealed that Omos indeed had a tumor, which if not caught in time, could have ended in blindness or even his sudden death.
"I have pretty much the same thing that André The Giant had, but mine is a little bit different than his because he had acromegaly, which is what this is called. Me, I have acromegaly and I have gigantism and I have partial Cushing's disease. So, I have a mixture of all three."
Acromegaly, which André the Giant did, indeed, have, is a disorder of the pituitary gland which results in the overproduction of growth hormones. André's, however, wasn't treated as Omos' has been, and created significant health problems for him as he got older. He died on Jan. 28, 1993 of congestive heart failure at the age of 46.
The WWE Universe is collectively thankful that doctors were able to diagnose and treat Omos’s ailments, but it is only fitting that André The Giant and Omos share the same physical problems as both men are true giants of their time. Over the last month, Omos has been soundly defeating local competitors in two on one handicap matches on RAW.
