New NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Crowned In Frenetic Fatal Four-Way Match

The NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships were declared vacant on July 26.

Due to the dissolution of the team of Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade — the previous tag-team champions — leading to the women’s tag team title situation being thrown into total chaos, emergency measures had to be taken.

Thankfully, the WWE Universe only had to wait one week to find out who would step up and take those vacant titles.

On last night’s episode of NXT 2.0, four of the best female tag teams in the world did battle in a Fatal Four Way Match that truly has to be seen to be believed:

In the end, Katana Chance and Kayden Carter defeated Toxic Attraction, Yulisa Leon, and Valentina Feroz, as well as the team of Tatum Paxley and Ivy Nile in a back-and-forth classic match that ended when Chance and Carter hit their patented 450 splash/neck breaker combination finishing maneuver on Gigi Dolan.

The Capital Wrestling Center clearly is on board with a Carter/Chance title reign, as raucous cheers and applause echoed through the building as soon as the referee’s count hit three.

It is the first NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship reign for Chance and Carter — titles that have eluded them for their entire careers up to this point.

Having formed their team in 2018 and slowly climbing the ranks of the NXT women’s tag division, this championship win represents the pinnacle of their careers thus far, as it’s been a long and winding road to the gold. They had advanced to the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in back-to-back years (2021, 2022) but always fell short of making it to the finals.

Katana Chance and Kayden Carter most recently tried to capture the tag team titles at April’s In Your House event, but came up short against Toxic Attraction, making their epic victory last night even more satisfying, as they were able to finally dispatch a Toxic Attraction team that has made the lives of so many women in NXT a living hell over the past year.

It’s been a long, arduous journey for the new champions, a journey that was referenced by Chance and Carter backstage after their win last night:

“We’ve been through the worst of times, the best of times, and times when we wanted to give up — but we never stopped pushing each other,” Carter said. “And we kept moving forward. And all those sacrifices made this moment so much sweeter.”

“These titles are where they belong and that’s where they’re gonna stay,” Chance added.

Suffice it to say, it seems like neither Superstar will pull a Cora Jade and drop their championship into a trash can anytime soon.

After nearly a month of tag team championship turmoil, the dust has finally settled. The double-crosses between former friends are over; the championship titles laying unclaimed is officially a thing of the past; NXT now has a strong and dedicated team holding one of the most prestigious women’s tag team titles in the world.
