Newly Retired NASCAR Great Kevin Harvick Buys "Talladega Nights" Mansion
“The Closer” is cashing out of the Cup Series and cashing in on some swanky new digs that served as the home of fictional racer Ricky Bobby on the big screen.
Kevin Harvick — who began his career in NASCAR in 1992, and arguably had the most tumultuous ascension into the Cup Series when he replaced the late, great Dale Earnhardt after he tragically died on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 — was the last of his generation of veterans in NASCAR’s elite circuit as a new class of drivers, including Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott, lead the sport into a new frontier.
When it comes time for most professional athletes to bid farewell to the sport they played, the notion of going out on top is an all-consuming target that’s often just as unachievable as is making it to that top flight in the first place. And yet, when it was Harvick’s time to suit up for one last ride at this year’s championship race in Phoenix, Arizona — his final top-10 finish — the legendary wheelman wore a content grin because his legacy was already secure.

Buoyed by 60 wins in his 23 years in the Cup Series, Harvick ranks 10th on NASCAR’s all-time win list at the time of his retirement. He won one Cup Series title, inspired an endless number of fans and current drivers and put his neck on the line as a reputable, trustworthy voice when the league needed him most, not to mention amassing a war chest from 2007-2022 alone worth nearly $210 million through salary and endorsements with Richard Childress Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing, according to Spotrac.
So, how does a guy who’s earned the nickname "The Closer" go out on top? By doing just that: closing on the lavish mansion that once belonged to Will Ferrell’s beloved kooky title character in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

Harvick, 47, paid a cool $6.75 million for the pad, according to Charlotte, North Carolina NBC-affiliated station WCNC-TV.

The crib of all cribs features 12,042 square feet set across a sprawling 1.31-acre waterfront lot in the prestigious Lake Norman community in Cornelius, North Carolina. Built in 2002, Harvick’s ritzy digs come complete with six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, two docks, a boat lift, private beach, bar, entertainment suite, putting green, infinity pool and hot tub.
In the 2006 film Talladega Nights, Ferrell starred as a fictional winning-obsessed NASCAR driver in the sports comedy.
