Love Island USA Winner Justine Ndiba Aims to Make History Again on Love Island Games

A spin on a fan-favorite dating reality show is about to tip off: Peacock’s Love Island Games is a new Love Island spinoff that gives Islanders from the past a second shot at love. Set in Fiji, contestants from various Love Island series across the globe — including USA, U.K., and Australia — will be faced with challenges, dating, eliminations, and drama. One of the Islanders returning to play the game of love is Justine Ndiba from Love Island USA’s second season. Justine and Caleb Corprew made history in 2020 as the first Black couple to win any Love Island show.

“Listen, I'm trying to forever make history. It never stops,” Justine told USA Insider.

Justine was a part of the original cast on Season 2 from the beginning and Caleb came in on the fifth day. They were together from that point on. While others struggled, they managed to hang onto each other. Justine and Caleb's victory was a historic moment for the reality dating show, which has been criticized for its lack of diversity in the past. Their relationship was also a fan favorite, with viewers praising their genuine connection and support for each other. In an interview with PEOPLE after their win, Justine and Caleb said that they were proud to represent Black love on Love Island and they were glad America got behind them. 

Unfortunately, they went their separate ways four months after being crowned the winners of the series. 

“I feel like being the first Black couple that we had so much support coming out of that, and so many people just believed in our love. They wanted to see us happy, and when it didn’t work out, I feel like a lot of people were heartbroken for us, and for me,” Justine said.

She added that she feels like she can be an inspiration to others who have gone through heartbreak. “I kind of want to show people that it’s OK to still be open again. Just because it didn’t work out, it’s OK. I’m definitely trying to keep making history and just keep showing people that get back out there, it’s going to be OK,” Justine said. 

Moving forward, Justine is taking what she learned from her time on Love Island USA and her short-lived romance and applying it to the future.

“I learned not to put as much pressure on expectations," she said. "It’s all cute when you’re in there but once the real world hits, it's very real and you get tested in very different ways. So, I’ve learned to not have high expectations on the love part of Love Island and just go with the flow and see what happens."

We’ll see if Justine can find love again and make even more history on Love Island Games.
