'We're Not Going To Stop Our Work': Kyle And Samantha Busch Open Up About Fertility Struggles, Helping Other Families
Kyle and Samantha Busch have long been open about the hurdles they faced to complete their family, but are using their experiences to help other families overcome similar challenges.
One of the most intriguing aspects of USA Network's new unscripted series "Race For The Championship" is how viewers are able to see a whole new side of their favorite NASCAR drivers. It offers fans a look at what happens off the track: building friendships, raising families, indulging in hobbies, and handling personal struggles.
Kyle Busch, one of the drivers featured in the series, is no stranger to sharing personal issues with the world. He and his wife, Samantha Busch, have been refreshingly candid about their fertility struggles and how it affected their relationship as they built their family. As they told PEOPLE in 2021, they struggled to conceive after marrying in 2010.
While IVF treatments eventually led to the birth of their son, Brexton, in 2015, they had to deal with more failed IVF attempts as they tried to have a second child. In November 2021, they announced they were having a baby via a surrogate, and daughter Lennix Key Bush was born in May 2022.
The couple talked about what it was like to share such a personal struggle with the world while at the premiere event for "Race For The Championship" Thursday.
"It’s been a long time coming. It’s been about 10 years to complete our family. We’re excited that it’s complete, but we’re not gonna stop our work. So we have the Bundle of Joy fund where we’ve helped almost 100 couples go through IVF to try to have their miracle babies, like we’ve been able to," Samantha told USA Insider digital correspondent Stephanie Gomulka. "It’s nice to use these bigger platforms to show people that one in eight couples will go through infertility, and kind of just how we’ve navigated the journey. It’s really exciting to see over the years just how the conversation around infertility has changed, and we’re happy to be a big part of that."
As for life with the new baby, the parents, who attended with son Brexton in tow, say it's been an amazing experience — although Brexton had some notes.
"It’s been good, really good. Lennix has been awesome. Brex, is she really good? She’s super good, right?" Kyle said, to which Brexton responded, "Unless she cries."
"She just found her voice. She smiles all the time. And she’s a trooper, going between all their races," Samantha said.
"She’s a super baby, super good baby," Kyle concluded.
