NASCAR Star Kyle Busch And Family Safe After Mall Of America Shooting
"Race For The Championship" star Kyle Busch and his family said they're safe after a scary incident took place at the Mall of America.
NASCAR driver and “Race For The Championship” star Kyle Busch and his family announced they’re safe after they were among the mass of people who fled the Mall of America Wednesday when a shooting took place.
The two-time NASCAR champion was enjoying a day at the mall in Minnesota with his wife, Samantha, and son, Brexton. On her Instagram Story, Samantha shared videos of her family going on rides in the country’s largest mall. Sometime after, shots rang out and patrons were forced to flee for their safety.
Video obtained by TMZ show Kyle holding Brexton’s hand as they join a crowd of people moving swiftly and safely toward the exit. Later, Samantha took to her Instagram Story again to let the public know they were all safe and sound.
“If you are seeing the news about the @mallofamerica we got out and are safe. Praying others inside are too,” she wrote.
A little before 6 p.m. CDT, the Bloomington Police stated on its Twitter they were responding to an active shooting incident on the northwest side of the mall. Soon after, the same account said it had secured the scene and a suspect had fled on foot. Fortunately, there don’t seem to have been any injuries as a result of the shooting.
Police would later state that the incident originated in the Nike store, where an altercation between two groups of people began. One group allegedly left only to return and fire a gun into the store, causing widespread panic throughout the mall and forcing the NASCAR racer and several others to flee the building.
Kyle is one of the many drivers participating in the new USA Network documentary series “Race For The Championship” which will document the lives of NASCAR racers competing in the 2022 Cup Series both on and off the track.
“Race For The Championship” premieres Sept. 1 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network.
