Blake Shelton Is Producing a Documentary That'll Make Music, The Voice Fans So Happy
The former The Voice Coach cites this band as one of his biggest influences.
Blake Shelton has an exciting new project under his belt.
The former The Voice Coach (Seasons 1-23) and current Barmageddon star is an executive producer of an upcoming country music documentary titled Get Me to the Stage on Time. The film is about the legacy and influence of the country music band Sawyer Brown, a band Shelton's personally been a fan of since a young age.
The documentary is right up Shelton's alley, as Sawyer Brown first rose to fame when they won Star Search in 1983, a talent competition show that laid the groundwork for The Voice. (So, in that respect, it's also ideal for Voice fans!)
"Sawyer Brown defined '90s country," Shelton says in the trailer for Get Me to the Stage on Time. (Watch, below.)
The film features interviews from Shelton himself, Dolly Parton, Dierks Bentley, Mac McAnally, members of Sawyer Brown, and others. It debuts October 1 at the Nashville Film Festival in Nashville, Tennessee.

Blake Shelton talks about leaving The Voice
In 2022, Shelton announced that Season 23 of The Voice would be his last.
“I’ve been wrestling with this for a while, and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after Season 23,” Shelton said in a statement. “This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me. It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people; you are the best."

He continued, "It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week. I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson [Daly] and every single one my fellow Coaches over the years, including my wife, Gwen Stefani! I have to give a huge shoutout to the singers–the ‘Voices,’ who come on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent, and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their Coach. Lastly, it’s about y’all, the fans, who watch and support these Artists, us Coaches, and everyone at The Voice who are chasing their dreams. It would not happen without you!"
