Austin Dillon Reveals What His NASCAR Friends Thought About 'Life In The Fast Lane'
Austin and Whitney Dillon are looking back on "Life In The Fast Lane" and what it meant to them, their family and their friends.
Now that it’s all said and done, Austin and Whitney Dillon are looking back at the wild ride that was their reality show “Life In The Fast Lane.”
Following Thursday’s one-hour finale, the duo sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight where they discussed what it meant to them to give people not only an inside look at their lives but the world of NASCAR as well.
“I think mostly because we wanted to show our friendship, our family, and just a little bit of everything about NASCAR and racing and what it entails during a regular week," Austin told the outlet.
After eight weeks of filming, he and Whitney were anxious for their friends and family to watch. Specifically, the people in their lives who are close to the world of professional racing. Fortunately, they not only liked it but got into the elements of the show that were more personal to them as well.
"I think they were just kinda asking questions about, 'How did it go? How much time was it? Did you like it? Did you not like?'" Austin explained. "[But] now that they're watching the show, they like the show, and showing different, fun sides of what we do."
Regardless of what happens in the future with “Life In The Fast Lane,” the duo are thrilled that they’ll have the episodes as a time capsule of home videos to show their son, Ace.
The Dillons previously spoke to USA Insider ahead of the show’s premiere where they discussed the additional pressure being reality TV stars put on an already high-stakes NASCAR Cup season. Fortunately, in true Austin Dillon fashion, he noted pressure is something he lives with all the time.
“I think when we took on the show that I knew that … You know, to me, pressure began when I started racing,” Dillon said. “I've gotten so comfortable in my skin and my abilities to drive a race car that it's more about, you know, going out there and performing for RCR and our employees and all the families that put all the time, and work, and effort into this. So, for me, the [cameras] didn't change any of my mindset.”
