Austin 'The Ace' Dillon's NASCAR Family Legacy, Explained
There's no denying that NASCAR driver Austin Dillon comes from racing royalty.
Austin “The Ace” Dillon, star of USA’s upcoming series “Austin Dillon’s Life in the Fast Lane,” has made an indelible mark on racing history since the day he took the 2008 Rookie of the Year title in the NASCAR Camping World East Series. His skills are unquestionable, as is the name he’s made for himself in the NASCAR world. However, there’s no denying Dillon comes from racing royalty.
As the son of NASCAR Busch Series driver Mike Dillon and the grandson of NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Richard Childress, owner of Richard Childress Racing, saying Austin Dillon has racing in his blood is an understatement. His younger brother, Ty, is similarly gifted: He has one career win in the Xfinity Series and three career wins in the Camping World Truck Series, per the official NASCAR website. The pair grew up in the racing world, and it clearly left a lasting, lifelong impression.
Austin is a two-time NASCAR champion with the 2011 NASCAR Truck Series driver’s championship and the 2013 NASCAR Xfinity Series’ driver’s championship under his belt, according to RCR’s official website.
However massive his career accomplishments, though, “Austin Dillon’s Life in the Fast Lane” will find the balance between Austin’s work and his home life. Described as a “double-buddy reality sitcom,” the series will follow Austin and wife Whitney and their best friends, Paul and Mariel Swan, as they navigate life in and around the NASCAR world.
Will we spend time with any of the rest of the Dillon and Childress clan? Find out when “Austin Dillon’s Life in the Fast Lane” premieres on USA Network on June 23 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT.
