'We've Gone At It': Austin Dillon Trades Paint In Heated Exchange With Brad Keselowski

Austin Dillon’s tiff with another driver manifested itself on the track in New Hampshire over the weekend when the duo traded paint under a caution flag before exchanging some words via the media. 

The “Life In The Fast Lane” star was racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday when Kyle Busch spun out on his own, bringing out a caution flag. Despite the flag, Dillon approached Brad Keselowski's car and gave it a bump on its left side. After that, Keselowski was clearly frustrated and turned hard into the right side of Dillon’s car and kept on his door all the way to turn three. 

“The guy tried to wreck me down the backstretch,” Keselowski told his team on the radio shortly after, according to a video from NASCAR.com. 

When asked by the media, both their teams stated they had no clue what led to the two drivers trading paint like that. 

After the race, Dillon was asked what happened but remained tight-lipped on specifics. 

“You guys saw, right? I mean, it’s just hard racing I guess,” he said. “We’ve gone at it a couple of times in the last two years. One time I hit him really hard. I just don’t like the way certain people race with me. Probably not the right way to do it, under a caution but …” 

According to Racing News, Dillon is likely referring to a crash in Michigan when Keselowski hooked Dillon in the right rear and sent him into the wall. He’s said he did not mean to wreck Dillon but admits he was responsible for the wreck. As for what happened in New Hampshire, Keselowski doesn’t fully understand what caused things to get heated between them other than, perhaps, the heat. 

“It’s hot in the cars and all our tempers get the best of us,” he told NBC Sports. “Yeah, I’ll talk to him privately. I don’t need to be a jerk over the media.” 

However, he may not get his chance to talk with Dillon about the incident as Dillon told a reporter that he has no plans to hash things out privately with the driver. 

“No, I don’t talk to him,” Dillon said.  

This isn’t the first time this month that Dillon has seemingly had an issue with someone else on the track. Last week he told reporters that he didn’t think too highly of Ross Chastain after he was responsible for a wreck that caught Dillon’s No. 3 racer in the mix. 

“Unfortunately we got our car better right there and it looks like we were just a casualty of Ross Chastain once again,” Dillon said at the time.
