Allison Tolman portrays Alex on the new NBC comedy "St. Denis Medical."

Tolman was discovered in Chicago and cast as a series regular on the first season of the hit FX crime dramedy "Fargo." For her role on the show, she won the 2014 Critics Choice Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie.

She co-starred alongside Julia Roberts and Sean Penn in "Gaslit" as well as "Shining Vale," co-starring Courteney Cox. Other TV credits include "Why Women Kill," "Emergence," "Downward Dog," Jordan Peele's "The Twilight Zone" reboot, "Castle Rock," "Mosaic" (directed by Steven Soderbergh), "Good Girls," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "I'm Sorry" and "Archer."

On the film side, she has appeared in "The Sisters Brothers" with John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix, as well as "Family," "Killing Gunther," "The House," "Addicted to Fresno," "Krampus," "The Gift" and the indie comedy "The Last Shift," starring Richard Jenkins.
