Actor Bio

Aja Naomi King plays Catherine on the new NBC drama "Grosse Pointe Garden Society."

King co-starred for six seasons on the hit ABC drama "How to Get Away with Murder" and received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the NAACP Image Awards.

King recently received an Emmy Award nomination for her role in the limited series "Lessons in Chemistry" as well as nominations at both the Critics Choice Awards and NAACP Image Awards. Other recent work includes the feature film "The Knife," opposite Melissa Leo, the romantic comedy "Boxing Day" and the hit narrative podcast "BLACKOUT" for QCODE.

Other projects on King's resume include "Sylvie's Love," "The 24th," "A Little White Lie," "The Upside," "A Girl from Mogadishu," "Damsels in Distress," "The Rewrite," "Four" and the Sundance Film Festival hit "The Birth of a Nation," for which she received an NAACP Image Award nomination.

King received the Shining Star Award at the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards and has been honored in Elle's Women in Hollywood issue.

King is on the Artistic Advisory Board of Opening Act, an organization that provides students in New York City's most underserved public high schools opportunities to develop leadership, community and commitment through its innovative afterschool theater program.

King is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and currently resides in Los Angeles.
